My Students

I currently am at a middle to low socio-economic school. In recent years we have had an influx of non-English speaking students enroll at our school. Many are from Spanish speaking countries. They are so excited to come into the library, but due to budget constraints, we don't have many books written in Spanish for them to choose from. With this project, I am hoping to get more books for them to read as they navigate a new language but still embrace their primary one.

My Project

By donating to this project, please know that you are making our ELL students extremely excited to find books in their native language.

These Spanish titles will give students a sense of comfort as they try to navigate being immersed into an all English reading classroom.

Students are served by an ELL teacher three times a week. These books give the teacher and the students an opportunity to make connections and give them a starting point from which to build upon. These titles will also be used to find out the students' true reading level.
