Spanish Speaking Bats Help Students Read

Help me give my students more practice in Reading and Spanish. This book will be read as a class novel. Students will practice reading strategies and learn new Spanish vocabulary while learning about bats in Venezuela.

My Project

The best way to learn another language is by using it in context. Reading a class novel allows us to read, write, listen, and talk about a topic -- all in Spanish. I would like a class set (30) of the novel Julianna. We will use it to wrap up our Spanish 1 unit on animals/pets.

This novel talks about bats, ecology, capitalism, kindness, and compromise.

My 8th grade Spanish 1 students will benefit from thinking outside of their experience and the ability to empathize with others. My students are earning high school Spanish credit a year before they even get there and this will boost their Spanish and Reading skills so they are ready to have amazing success in 8th grade and beyond!
