My Students
We used to be a small country school but have most recently experienced a building boom that has nearly doubled the size of our school in the last 10 years. Our school is steeped in decades of tradition and there is a lot of school pride here. My students are bright, inquisitive, funny and most of all hard-working. It is a joy to come to work each day and interact with my students. They have great interpersonal skills and are all around good people who are going to have a positive impact on this community and beyond.
My Project
Research has proven that the more access students have to the written and spoken word the easier they acquire a new language. I want to provide a silent reading time daily for my students but I do not have anywhere near enough books to provide this opportunity. The Spanish novels will be used on a daily basis and will be so appreciated by my students and me. It is exciting to see beginning Spanish students pick up a small novel, begin reading it and realize they can understand so much because these specific books are written at their level. Thank you!
