My Project

My 8th graders are part of the Dual Language Immersion program which means they learn in both English and Spanish. Some students speak Spanish at home while others speak English or another language. As part of this program, students need to develop literacy skills in both English and Spanish.

This upcoming quarter, I hope to create Spanish literacy circles with the help of your donation.

Students will read one of four books in Spanish, all of which represent different cultures, time periods, and experiences. They will meet in student led small groups to discuss the book. This project will help students develop their critical thinking and comprehension skills, as well as build their Spanish vocabulary.
