Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a 5th grade Dual Language teacher in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Dual Language teachers need materials in both languages, but unfortunately there are not sufficient funds available to make all of the purchases needed for our classrooms.
I would like my 30 students to use the "Diccionario Esencial De La Lengua Española" when they write in Writer's Workshop (Taller de Escritores). An essential dictionary in Spanish is hard to find. This paperback edition has features such as 30,000 entries, an appendix of word formation, a list of suffixes, a verb conjugation chart, and a list of common abbreviations.
My students will find these dictionaries useful both in the classroom, and at home when they are doing their homework. The dictionaries will increase their vocabulary, improve their spelling, and help them become better readers.
