Spanish College Reading Center

My students need 34 Spanish-Latin American literature/books, including Spanish/English dictionaries, a 2009 Guinness Book of Records and novels, such as "Twilight" and "Cien a os de soledad (One Hundred Years of Solitude)".

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a Spanish High School teacher in New York. I teach students grades 9-12. I teach 170 students each day. Students have limited Spanish books and students are in need of a Spanish library.

Our school library has very limited books, especially in the foreign language category. If students have books/dictionaries available their reading performance can improve and students can then be ready to take the advanced courses offered in the school. I want students to have choices when reading any type of literature. In college, foreign language is a requirement and I want students to have a better appreciation and understanding of Spanish literature.

My current school does not have the budget to provide a Spanish library and the students would benefit greatly. Providing a Spanish library will help students advance their reading skills and be prepared for the Spanish AP classes in the school, which will prepare them for the college courses.

Reading is so important and your help will allow my students to have dictionaries and books that are age appropiate and of interest to them. Our school library does not have Spanish books for students.
