This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a group of enthusiastic 2nd graders. We love to study literacy, math, science and social studies. Having created a safe classroom community throughout the school year, we are a community of young people who take risks to learn! We encourage each other through collaborative learning through all subjects.

Our classroom is home to 21 second graders, most of whom come from bilingual and immigrant households.

In an underfunded school district, we would greatly appreciate resources to continue our learning!

My Project

These book will make a huge difference in the reading lives of my students! My students are all bilingual and speak both Spanish and English. As a bilingual classroom, we love to read, write, learn, and share in both of our languages! However, we are lacking the resources we need to be able to share our love of reading in Spanish. Studies show that when students read in both their native language and in English, their learning and growth increases.

These series books in Spanish will promote a love of reading and sharing learning in my student's native language.

I chose several different series that I know my students will love. This project includes the popular Fly Guy series in Spanish, Hombre Mosca! It also includes the Judy Moody series as well as the Owl Diary series. We love series books in our classroom, because we get to know the characters as if they were our friends!
