Help me give my students a good selection of books to read! To develop a love for reading, readers have to have a variety of quality books available to them. These 50 books will help us grow!
My students come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some are recent immigrants from around the world and some have lived in Oklahoma their whole life. Half my students are native English speakers and half are native speakers, but when they leave our program, all will be bilingual.
Becoming bilingual opens a world of possibilities to them, and it is my honor to help them become both bilingual and biliterate.
Through our program, native Spanish speakers gain ownership of their language with the ability to read and write not just speak, as well as grow their English skills. Native English speakers gain a lifetime of opportunity as well in the form of the Spanish language.
My Project
My students are growing towards being both bilingual and biliterate. The 50 books in this project will help grow our library and contain a variety of titles to appeal to the variety of readers in my classroom. Familiar titles like Mo Willems books, as well as authentic Spanish literature from Spain like El caballero que no tenia cabello, give them lots of options to choose from.
My students are learning in both English and Spanish.
My students range from recent immigrants to lifelong Okies. When they leave my room, they all have something in common no matter where they were born - they are bilinguals. This collection of books will help spark their love for reading and grow their reading skills. Thanks for helping us!
