Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My bilingual fourth grade students enjoy exploring books in both English and Spanish. They are unique because their brains work twice as much to understand two languages. My students need resources to strengthen their bilingualism. My students reside in the North-west side of the Logan Square neighborhood.
All of my students learn in two languages!
Being bilingual has so many benefits not only for the child but for everyone surrounding them. This amazing gift has enabled them to understand the world in two different languages.
My Project
I would like to increase the number of Spanish books available for my students in the library. It is essential that they continue to grow in two languages. We need more available authentic Spanish texts in our bilingual library.
My students will be able to select books for independent study, research study and partner reading.
They will have access to their first language through an abundance of literature available in Spanish. It is important that they strengthen both English and Spanish as they are growing readers. With this donation, students will be able to check out books and read with parents at home.
