This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a total of 84 amazing students who are learning Spanish as a strong first language, a second, or even a third language. My students are a caring and compassionate group of kids. They care and worry about each other. If I am unaware of something that is going on and I want to know more, all I need to do is ask.

My students come from diverse backgrounds, cultures and needs.

Although our school might be situated in a high poverty neighborhood, my students never complain about anything and are thankful for what they have.

My Project

The Spanish books that I am looking to obtain for my students are ones that provide much needed social and emotional support through titles that reinforce social skills taught throughout our curriculum. They will provide a rich bilingual literacy development through exposure to well known titles. We will be able to celebrate diversity in our classroom and school by exposing students to topics shared in common. They will also provide the opportunity for my students to have a well-stocked Spanish classroom library making independent reading time exciting, adventurous and welcoming all at the same time, leaving students feeling a need to keep coming back to choose from a variety of books and truly enjoy reading.
