This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach STREAM for 3K and Pre-K at a low-income school. In our school community, we have a lot of Spanish speaking children that can positively benefit from Spanish Audio books. The lack of materials in my classroom have given those students a low motivation/result of them coming to the listening center at all.

Exposure to Spanish through audiobooks helps young children develop listening skills in both their native language and a second language, fostering bilingualism.

Listening to stories in Spanish improves auditory processing, understanding of language structures, and vocabulary. Spanish audiobooks introduce children to diverse cultures, traditions, and stories from the Spanish-speaking world. Audiobooks cater to auditory learners and can be a fun, interactive way to experience stories without the need for reading. Repeated listening helps children familiarize themselves with new words and phrases in Spanish.

Integrating Spanish audiobooks in preschool can create a rich, inclusive, and engaging language environment that benefits early language development and cultural understanding.
