Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I was devastated when I moved from many many years of middle school to continuation high school last school year. What I didn't realize at the time is that this is where I need to be! My students needed me and I needed them. Over the past year, we have created an amazing classroom community with lots of fun tools to create with. My students often come in during breaks to use the crafting tools in my room. However, we have outgrown our current craft space setup.
We need 2 tables to craft at and provide storage for our crafting tools.
This project will give us those tables. Students will be responsible for building the tables from the project materials. The solid core doors will make sturdy and durable craft table tops. The hollow core doors will make shelving under the table top to hold our bins of supplies. Locking wheels on the tables will allow our tables to go where they need to be.
I'm so excited for my students to have space to spread out their tools and craft. For this past school year, students had a Cricut and heat press (along with heat transfer vinyl, rhinestones, and sticker material) and 3D printers (and bins of filament) to use in their creative endeavors. This year, my classroom will be welcoming an Xtool laser with all the fun things that go along with it to make amazing projects. The students in my electives LOVE using all our fun creative tools to make things for themselves and others and I know they're going to be excited to have a laser join the room.
