My students are 6-8 graders at a rural California school. I have taught math and science at my school for 22 years. In that time, I have had the opportunity to forge relationships with many families. When siblings of past students enter my room, they are eager to fill me in on what is going on with their families. My elective class this year is art which is the focus of my Donor's Choose projects. The first 2 trimesters are different groups of students with the 3rd trimester being a mix of students from the first 2. I'm really enjoying this art class because the kids come to me after a full day of academic classes ready to be creative and social. We incorporate math into quite a few of our projects. 1st and 2nd trimester is all about paper crafts. 3rd trimester will focus on STEAM and have us using a 3D printer, a Cricut maker & heat press, and Circuit Playground Express & Micro:bit for coding.
