My Project

Living in the northern part of Alaska can be difficult to have access to additional, or more in depth classroom materials. With Alaska's extended season of darkness, it is only natural for children to wonder about the night sky. This project will provide answers to what is out there.

Learning about the universe that surrounds this blue planet can be filled with wonder, amazement, and builds upon additional areas of interest found within STEM.

This project includes age appropriate reading materials-nonfiction and fiction, visual posters, and kinesthetic materials (puzzles, and constructive play pieces). Within this project, you will also find a classroom planetarium projector, and florescent light covers. Both of these products will give my students the feeling of being immersed into the outer space realm. The vast array of non-fiction books on space will give my students a fantastic place to begin learning about the universe we are spinning through. It is my hope that these products, partnered up with in depth object lessons on this subject, will jump start the curiosity and desire to learn more about the wonderful universe around us.

My students have a passion for the natural environment. Many have spoke of becoming a pilot, or a mechanic. The 21st century skills this unit will include can assist them in building upon their knowledge base will help them be competitive in the workforce.Please help give these students the chance to develop, and build upon a love of science and the natural world.
