My Project
My students are eager and excited young scientists who love hands-on learning. This project will allow them to explore real-world science concepts like mixtures, chemical reactions, and states of matter — all while creating special spa gifts like bath salts and sugar scrubs to gift to someone special. To make this happen, we are requesting supplies such as Epsom salt, baking soda, grapeseed oil, essential oils, food coloring, and small containers. These hands-on activities will help bring abstract science concepts to life while connecting students to real-world applications and spreading kindness.
Through "Spa Science," students will deepen their understanding of science skills and concepts while creating meaningful, handmade gifts that they will be proud to give.
As part of this project, students will: investigate how solids and liquids interact, explore how different ingredients combine to form new textures and materials, learn about safe use of basic ingredients and simple chemical reactions, and practice measuring, mixing, and observing changes — key scientific skills! I look forward to my young scientists getting to experience the excitement of science in action, while developing fine motor skills, measurement skills, and the joy of giving a homemade gift — a powerful lesson in kindness and thoughtfulness.
