Our SP Innovation Lab is an extension of our SP Design Lab where students K through 5 come during school to create and learn. Our students come for many different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as children of our military. The ability to be a maker is innate in all of our students.
Creation is central to the SP Innovation Lab.
The Spheros, Dashes, and Little Bits provide more students access to exploring the world of coding and robotics. It is important for students to have access to materials that engage and encourage them to create. It is also important that students share what they are learning.
The addition of these materials to help more students have access to a tool to both create and document their learning will have a very positive impact in our SP Innovation Lab where all of our students are learning and creating.
My Project
All people are makers... finding the medium is essential. In our Innovation Lab, students are creating using different mediums. My goal is to provide many different materials for students to create in the physical and virtual world.
Additional materials help students who want to work on coding for the Dash robots or Spheros, and Little Bits to explore arduinos and circuitry, too. It is important for students to have access to materials that engage and encourage them to create.
Currently, we have two teams of students working on a robotics challenge but limited materials impact how many students are able to participate.
The addition of these materials will help more students have access to tools to both create and document their learning.
