SP Innovation Lab ... Sharing and Learning

My students need a television and Apple TV to connect and display their work. As students are researching and sharing, this will enable students to share their work.

My Students

Our SP Innovation Lab provides many different materials for students to create in the physical and virtual world. The TV and Apple TV would help students who are creating to share what they are creating with each other.

Our SP Innovation Lab is a space where students 2 through 5 come during ­school to create and learn.

Our students come for many different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. The ability to be a maker is innate in all of our students. All people are makers... finding the medium is essential. In our Innovation Lab, students are creating using different mediums. It is important for students to have access to materials that engage and encourage them to create. The final piece of the creation process is sharing the creation with each other.

My Project

Creation is central to the SP Innovation Lab. Students have access to iPads that facilitate students creating videos or movie trailers. Also coding apps give students the opportunity to learn programming like Scratch Jr. as well as manipulate and program our Spheros. 3D printing apps allow students to create and print 3D designs. Documenting learning is the other important purpose of the iPads. Students capture images and videos to document a project to share their learning process or to create how-to videos. The iPads make this process much simpler because students are able to do it all within one device and then share their work.

Two essential parts of the design process are sharing as the project develops as well as sharing the final product.

This is where a TV and Apple TV would facilitate that part of the design process for our students because it will give students the opportunity to share more.
