My Students

My students attend a public school where diversity is immense in all aspects. Students come to our school with varying socioeconomic backgrounds, differing English language acquisition levels, special needs, and childhood experiences. During this pandemic, while many schools remain closed to in-person instruction, my students need the necessary resources and materials to engage them in learning from home.

While my students have been participating in zoom sessions daily to engage in virtual lessons, it is always more convenient and easier for them to have hands-on materials, puzzles, and games that can be used to help reinforce, manipulate, and enrich their learning.

My Project

During distance learning, some families are able to print out the work assigned by the teacher on seesaw. For many of my students who are both very young and have special needs, printed materials are much easier for them to engage with, instead of learning how to use technology to demonstrate academic competence. Many families who have printing capabilities are running low on ink and paper, and printing out rhyming activities, games, and even everyday activities and homework, requires a lot of ink and color to keep learning fun for their child.

Providing resources that are ready-made and promote a sense of learning through play, may help some students pick up letter sounds and rhyming a little better.

Rhyming puzzles, sorting activities, and sound games will help provide necessary practice to develop better phonemic awareness.
