This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a resource teacher in Flagstaff and I work with students in many eligibility categories. Many of the students on my case load and students in my school have sensory support needs. Currently the noise canceling headphones I have are either broken or too small for my students and I would like to replace them to provide better access to noise sensory support. These headphones benefit students during loud or overstimulating moments (assemblies, in the classroom, deescalation, etc.). The plug-in headphones with the microphone will assist my students during academic learning and testing. In my classroom we utilize technology to assist with learning and many programs utilize sound. To minimize distractions while learning, the headphones will help students focus and the microphone will allow students to submit their work in different forms to differentiate assessment.

The door bell will be used as a classroom management tool to provide an auditory transition sound to minimize verbal cues.

When students hear the doorbell sound this can signal to transition activities, to clean up or to get ready for directions. All of these tools will benefit my students and I would love to have the opportunity to provide these tools.
