My Project
My students are amazing - they each bring something special to our classroom! I'm so excited for them to dive into "A Raisin in the Sun" with their own copies of the book. The posterboard and markers will let them get creative with their album covers, showing off their artistic sides while connecting to the story, while the speaker will give us a chance to share the choices each team has made to represent aspects of the play.
I can't wait to see what the kids will choose to represent each characters!!
They'll pick songs that capture Walter's ambition, Mama's strength, and Ruth's resilience. I can already imagine them debating which song perfectly represents the Younger family's apartment or the neighborhood tensions.
The classroom speaker is absolutely essential - it's what brings this whole project to life! When students share their soundtracks with the class, everyone gets to experience different interpretations and insights. There's something magical about hearing a song that perfectly captures a character or theme, and watching faces light up with recognition. These shared listening moments create such rich discussions and help students see the text through their classmates' eyes. The speaker will transform our room into a space where literature and music come together, making these characters and their struggles real and relatable for everyone.
