it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I am hoping to make computer science even bigger. This is the second year that I'm running the program and last year, the kids had a blast learning about different topics: science, engineering, and free exploration time. Though the students did have coding and robotics time, we did not always work on this. But when we did code and work with robots, the kids really enjoyed it. Our kids are creative and curious and they love using technology. They want to learn more about technology and this is something I want to nurture. CS is very important, even at an early age. My hope is to also get our kids more interested in the opportunities that technology has. Hour of Code approaches in December--an entire week dedicated to the computer science initiative. In order to do this, we need new headphones for the I-pad cart. Our current headphones are starting to age and sometimes it's hard for students to complete work when different sounds are playing on various iPads. The headphones would be used when the kids use the iPads to log in to coding apps, read digital books, and complete assigned work on Seesaw. Most of all, we need it so students can listen to the sounds of coding!
Coding teaches students computational skills, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving--this is important for 21st-century jobs.
I want to prepare kids to be critical thinkers. Even if students are not interested in a career in Computer Science, I want them to know it's an option and they are capable of completing coding; With help from generous donors like you, this can be possible.
