My Project
As a high school counselor working closely with juniors—many of whom have diverse learning needs and disabilities—I’ve seen firsthand how powerful music, audio resources, and engaging environments can be for connection, focus, and community building. That’s why I’m requesting a Bose Bluetooth speaker to support our students both emotionally and academically.
Several of my students have IEPs or 504 Plans that call for learning accommodations, including audio support.
Many benefit from multi-sensory instruction, calming auditory input during times of emotional dysregulation, and structured environments that use sound cues to promote routine and engagement. Unfortunately, our current setup lacks the tools to fully meet these needs.
We host small group counseling sessions, mindfulness activities, motivational workshops, and peer-led tutoring—all of which could be enhanced by a high-quality speaker. Whether it's calming music during stress-relief activities, audio-based learning tools for Regents prep, or energizing playlists to kick off peer mentoring sessions, a dependable and portable speaker like this would make a tremendous difference.
The Bose speaker will also be used to:
- Create a welcoming, sensory-sensitive atmosphere during group check-ins and mentoring sessions.
- Support accessible learning with audio tools like guided meditations, vocabulary apps, and podcasts—especially helpful for students with auditory processing or attention challenges.
- Promote routine and regulation** through consistent sound cues and relaxing transitions during restorative practices and academic coaching.
This is more than just a speaker—it’s a tool for equity. It will help us amplify student voice, support mental wellness, and build a space where every learner feels seen, heard, and supported.
