My students need clothing and shoe racks, laundry baskets, hangers and hampers to help maintain a school wide free clothing store for students throughout the district.
I am a life skills/learning support teacher for 5th and 6th graders. In my classroom we work on many skills such as academic, social, emotional and life skills. Every year I strive to create a respectful, caring and supportive community of learners within my classroom.
Caring, hardworking and supportive; my students are always willing to give a helping hand and support each other.
This school year we are expanding our community. My students and I will help support students in need throughout the district. In my classroom, my students will maintain a free store with basic needs for all students.
My Project
My school currently has a program that collects clothing, shoes and toiletrees for students throughout the district. This school year my students are going to maintain the items throughout the school year. My students will ask for donations of items needed and collect them. After donations are received the students will sort the items and clothing. Laundry baskets will be used for sorting. The clothes will be washed and the students will fold, hang and label the clothing according to gender and size. The students will use the hangers, racks and size labels to organize clothing items. Also, the students will organize toiletries by category. This project will give my students the opportunity to learn social, communication and life skills while supporting their peers throughout the school district. It is a great way for peers to support each other.
