This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My energetic, inquisitive kindergarteners love to read and hear stories. We enjoy writing and working in teams. We get noisy, but it is on task noise. Learning can and should be fun.
Our families struggle.
With a large variety of family types, we deal with many social and economic issues. As beginning learners, our needs vary. We need to be hands on. We need to be in small groups. Our school suffers from budget constraints that make hands on a challenge. The supplies just are not available.
My Project
Book totes are nice, colorful, and very roomy. Plenty of room for students just grab a tote and have everything they need to read their books and have their response journals within arms reach. The totes also keep everything nice and tidy. These colorful totes make it easy to sort, carry and store classroom books! My class will use them for reading centers, as well as independent time. I especially like how each sturdy canvas tote has a label holder in front, plus a clear window to see inside.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' excitement about reading as each student will have their very own book tote to sort and store their independent, just right books!
I know my students will feel very happy and excited and can't wait to check out books to store in their book totes.
