This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager learners who enjoy school. They come from a low income urban community and many are first-generation Americans. They are active learners who are curious about the world around them and are always asking questions and looking for connections between ideas and their own life. Many of my students spend extended hours at school in the after school program. They often lack access to books and computers at home. Our school is a Title 1 school with all students receiving free school lunch.

My Project

My students love to write but this current school year, we have very limited supplies and are lacking some tools for our students to write with. They need pencils, crayons, and dry erase markers. They use all these materials to create responses to things read in the classroom, to express their ideas, and to show me their learning. The dry erase board items especially help them be engaged in lessons and be motivated as they can easily write down ideas, erase them or modify them during the lesson. We will use the multi-cultural crayons in our artwork to show the diversity in our school and community. Lastly, we will use the toner to print engaging lessons and print games to help students learn as well as print published pieces that students have finished.
