it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Fins, scales, wings and more is what we are waiting for. Stimulate our learning with life science!
Last year our class adopted a newt, a praying mantis, and a baby gopher snake as class pets.
These pets ended up being the highlight of their 3rd grade education. My students this year can't wait to get started with science and have their own class critters.
My students come from a rural area, the majority of which are English Language learners. They look forward to entering the classroom each day to check on and care for their pets. Students will be using language arts and math to write their predictions, make observations and compute calculations. Daily journals will be used to keep track of our plant and animal life cycles.
My Project
We are in the process of creating a hands on laboratory in my second and third grade class. The materials included in this project will engage students in science inquiries and studies of life science. They will be caring for and feeding fish, creating habitats for amphibians and reptiles, observing the life cycle of butterflies, nurturing ladybugs, and planting individual seeds to grow.
Help give these students a hands on learning environment, one which fosters enthusiasm and experiences that they can take with them as they continue their learning of science.
