My Students
My students are a group of highly energetic, amazing children with autism in grades 1-5. Many students with autism have difficulties in learning new information, communicating, and social interaction. All of my kids have awesome personalities and love to learn!
However, for this project I am asking for donations to help our entire school!
This beautification project not only will make my students feel welcome, but all 300 students in grades K4-5th that attend out wonderful school. All of our students deserve a school they can feel proud of. I teach in an urban elementary school in Wisconsin with a high poverty rate.
My Project
Kids having a beautiful, welcoming environment to attend each day fosters a sense of safety and desire to be there. It can raise kid's expectations, self-esteem, and connection to others, which can often leads to engagement and enjoyment.
For many children, entering a school that is aesthetically pleasing sends the message that they matter, are valued and can encourage and empower them to take ownership of their own learning.
For this project, I am requesting items to help beautify our whole school to create a sense of pride for both staff and students. Our school has a library that runs through the middle of our school. The bookshelves are high and act as an enclsure to the library. I think it would be amazing to have colorful, postive posters to hang up on the backs of the bookshelves for the students to see when they walk down the hall. I want them to feel proud of the school they attend!
