My students are 7th graders from a tight-knit rural/ low-income community.
They are amazing, caring, and driven individuals ready to succeed in whatever life may bring them.
They do their best on every assignment. I am proud to teach in a school with students like mine. Many of my students come from low-income families that are unable to provide supplies for the whole year. My students are ready to take advantage of opportunities to better their lives and improve their community in the process.
My Project
This year I am starting a lunch program. One day a week, I will have student volunteers come to my room to help classmates on course work. Students will peer tutor while enjoying lunch with students that may not be in their friend circle.
Students will work closely with their peers to fine-tune math skills while building relationships with peers.
I would like to provide a mini-fridge so that they may bring their lunches and store them in the room. This will keep their lunches cool and easily accessible to save time. The more time students have to work together, the more successful the program will be to the students.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
