Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students come from challenging backgrounds, yet they are so eager to learn. My students are also always so willing to help when it's needed. They love helping faculty or other students, they love to feel a sense of importance. I have had the privilege of working with the same group of students for 3 years now. My students are creative, tenacious, resilient, and hard-working.

I am among some of the greatest young human beings that have yet to discover their true potential.

My Project

These books will help enrich the classroom library and ensure that there is diversity within our classroom library. I have selected a variety of books that I feel my students can relate to. Also, I believe these books will give students who can't necessarily relate insight into another student's life. Some of these books will be used as a whole class novel study where the students will read them as a group and some will be used to read aloud and teach lessons. I choose books with not only a variety of topics and ethnic backgrounds but also books that will show the power of the written word through poetry. My goal this year is to expose my students to as much culture and give them a chance to see through another lens.
