Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Some have limited English proficiency and some have limited resources to read at home. My students will be going from fully virtual to in-person learning next school year. Teachers will have a major impact on that success.

Our next novel, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, is an engaging historical fiction piece and I want to engage my students in real-world experiences.

Help me gather the materials to transform my classroom into a design thinking center for problem solving.

My Project

Students will get a chance to come up with their problems to solve and present them at a solutions symposium. These resources will allow students to make a presentation and a small scale model for their solution. These hands-on activities will allow the students to see what it is like to make a science fair type project in English and present it with their problem solution essay!

A Solutions Symposium teaches them how to be critical problem solvers and help the world with the current issues.

This project will provide an interactive experience for the novel, "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind."
