My Students
Despite living and going to school in a low-income and high needs school district, my superstar students embrace every academic challenge that they encounter. Their ability to overcome challenges, remain positive, and collaborate to solve global problems inspires me daily.
My resilient, thoughtful, and creative students deserve to have the materials required to explore and engage with the world in which they live.
They thrive in the face of challenges and work every day to make each other better people and learners. Their interest in political, economic, and social justice issues creates a dynamic classroom environment that will benefit from your generous donations.
My Project
We are living during a time of significant global change, and the magazines that I am requesting will help my students better understand the challenges facing our world. Solution-focused thinking will play a critical part in my instruction this year, and these resources will provide my students with critical background information about relevant social, political, and economic issues in The United States and around the world.
The discussion and debate that will result from engaging with these resources on a daily basis will help my students become more active and engaged citizens.
Additionally, students will learn the necessary skills to become agents of change in their own communities. My hope is that the students in my classes will recognize the importance of speaking up about issues that they care about and that their voices can ignite social change.
