Solving Global Issues Through Entrepreneurship

My Students

My students are a racially diverse bunch of awesome kids that share a common bond of poverty. 82% of our school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch while hundreds in our district are classified as homeless due to their unstable living environments.

As a 14 year teacher of countless amazing kids, I've seen excitement, motivation, curiosity, and creativity rise when I teach them Personal Finance and open their eyes to business endeavors in Entrepreneurship class.

We have recently partnered with NFTE to help us develop an entrepreneurial mindset in the kids in an effort to empower them.

For these reasons, I have a short list of things that I know will improve our learning environment and help the kids collaborate and deep dive into learning.

My Project

Personal journals have been used by many entrepreneurs throughout history and I believe my students would benefit greatly from them. This "old school" and private way of expressing their spirit will help them nurture their personal and entrepreneurial goals.

The Moleskin Cardboard Journals are ideal for them to carry with them everywhere they go and even park them on their nightstands for those middle-of-the-night flashes of brilliance.

In teaching this course I have seen the students prefer paper and pen over electronics so the journals would be perfect companions for the young entrepreneurs. In addition, the journey they have each taken in the course has been very introspective and challenging. I encourage them to "save the moment" every chance they get so they can have the recall later to utilize their creativity whenever the opportunity arises.
