This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help us change the culture on our campus! We want to hold a solar car championship race on campus during lunchtime.

Our junior high serves 1500 students over two grades (7th and 8th).

As evident from our 86% free and reduced lunch rate, most of our families are living well below the poverty line. My students thrive when given open ended tasks that involve critical thinking and hands on learning.

My Project

These solar car kits will challenge them to think critically and apply crucial scientific knowledge including gearing, solar power, motor mechanics, friction forces and Newtons laws while keeping them engaged through the highly motivating opportunity to compete for the Solar Cup Championship!

This project will not only effect the students who build and race the solar cars.

This race is the first step in changing the culture on our campus to accept, celebrate and enjoy learning
