Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school in the mornings with a lot on their minds. They need a safe and soft start to begin their day. I have included a variety of amazing toys that my students will get to play with in the mornings. I have been doing soft starts this whole year and WOW, my students are listening, behaving, and learning better.
My students deserve to have a peaceful start to the day.
I do not think that morning math worksheets do anything to help our students. They need to come into a space that just lets them wake up and be a kid. I have tried morning work and kids feel so discouraged they cannot complete it. By doing soft starts they are always encouraged and happy to be in school.
In this project I have included play dough, marble runs, magnetic tiles, and so many other fun STEM toys and building sets. Thank you so much for taking the time to read through my project!
