Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Each morning, our students arrive over the course of a 30-minute breakfast period. This is time for students to get settled and eat their breakfast before the hard work of learning begins. I am looking to provide students with an array of choices they can use during this time that will allow them to explore their interests and connect with each other.
These soft start activities include puzzles, Legos, board games, and coloring books.
Students will be able to choose from what interests them and work together or alone as they get settled into school for the day. This will help promote good attendance, as students will be eager to arrive early in order to have time to play. It will also increase their engagement in learning throughout the day, because they'll have started off with positive socialization in a calm, tech-free environment.
