Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We start every morning with a group meeting on the floor. This is where we tell our stories, share work, and practice our phonics and phonemic awareness skills. It would be great to have a soft, comfortable rug to sit on!
The students in my classroom are from diverse cultures and backgrounds, but they have one thing in common: they are eager to learn!
Many of our students are underprivileged, but come to school with a positive attitude and an understanding that school is a special place where they will learn and have a brighter future for it.
My Project
Currently, our whole-group meeting place is on the floor, which is hard and not very comfortable. It would be great to have a soft, comfortable rug to sit on, where there is a clearly-designated spot for every child. The rug would be the place for students to meet every morning, to hear stories on, to share with their classmates and participate in group learning activities.
Donations towards purchasing a rug for my classroom would significantly improve the learning environment for my students.
It would provide comfort and order. It would allow all of us to fully enjoy whole-group discussions and learning. Additionally, it would enhance the appearance of the classroom, which is a space my students and I take pride in.
