Soft Sensory Area for Students with Special Needs

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn how to self-regulate their emotions with a Jump Crash space designed to allow them a safe space to be physical and get their energy, anger, etc. out.

My Project

I have been able to trial a Jump Crash area with my students, and it has been a great and effective space for them to be physical. They use the soft space to regulate their emotions and bodies instead of being physical towards adults or other students.

Regulating emotions is an important skill I teach in special education; especially for students who don't use verbal/vocal communication, it can be difficult to manage feelings in safe ways.

The items in this project will provide my future students with a soft, safe space to continue learning these important self-regulation skills - skills that don't come naturally to students with significant disabilities.
