This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Libraries have changed from a quiet room with books to the learning hub of schools. Our middle school was built in the early 1930’s. As of now, the only seating available in the library is round and rectangular tables purchased years ago. We want our library to be a welcoming place for all students.
Our library is in need of new furniture which will create a flexible learning environment.
The new space will allow students to read, study and collaborate.
My Project
We are in need of soft seating in the library. These lounge chairs allow students the opportunity to read independently in a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. They will also be used by students for paired and group activities.
By donating these items, you are offering our students flexible seating which will make reading more enjoyable.
These chairs are lightweight and durable, so students can easily position them for particular activities. I see how choice can have a positive effect on students' work and behavior. I hope that giving them optional seating choices will help them to continue to grow!
