My Students

The economic makeup of our school is primarily middle to low income. We are an "old time" neighborhood school. Our families provide all transportation to and from school. We qualify for free breakfast and lunch as well as offer Title I services.

My amazing students work hard and deserve an inviting environment.

They are curious learners. They are a tidy and respectful bunch this year. Every one of them has big challenges; be it monetary, housing, parental involvement, even cancer. Despite these challenges, our classroom is bright, as well as our children. They have great attitudes towards learning and I want to foster that in anyway that I can.

My Project

Each child has a reading nook in our room. They are built in book shelves with no shelves. Their little bodies fit perfectly into them. But, they are hard and uncomfortable. They struggle to get comfortable so they are constantly shifting and moving instead of reading and enjoying their books.

Reading rugs will make reading time a soft, cozy adventure!

The rugs fit perfectly into the shelves. They will provide a more comfortable reading and overall experience for beginning readers. We will use them to work in othere parts of the room also. They will make learning a warm, fuzzy experience.
