My Project

The goals for this project are to tackle issues observed in the classroom through field work (observations with research purposes). In the second grade classrooms, students struggle with sitting still, paying attention, and often end up distracting the teacher and others. The hope with support stuffed animals is to assign each student to a buddy which will be helpful with emotional regulation, and be an outlet with those who struggle to sit still and help solve the issues of distracting others.

The school has a demographic of 86.6% economically disadvantaged students.

The books will be sent home as Birthday books as often the parents of the students cannot expend their resources onto books. The goal is to encourage students to read at home which could increase academic performance, but at the very least provide educational resources to students who have minimal access otherwise.
