My Project

My students have the most creative and inquisitive minds! They love learning and being in school. Many of my students have disabilities that affect their ability to independently regulating their nervous system. Not because they are "bad kids" or "make bad choices", but because their body is in active fight, flight or freeze, even the littlest of problems or situations can cause them to explode in hour-long meltdowns.

Although my kids have disabilities that affect their abilities at the present moment, they won't back down from and won't stop learning and growing!

Research shows that there are instructional resources and tools to assist kids like mine to help them regulate their nervous system by quietly distracting their brain and body and getting their mind off of the triggering event.

All of the items in my wish list will have a positive impact on my classroom and students. The table will provide a stable area in the room where coloring and quiet activities can occur, and the clay and the stitching activity will help their nervous system feel regulated so that they can continue learning and experiencing the joys and successes of education.
