My Students
We are a class made up of 25 imaginative, creative, smart, and loving children (some with special needs)! Children who are innocent at heart, with unique personalities, and whose life's possibilities are insurmountable.
My school is located in District 23 in NYC, one of the smallest, yet poorest, crime-ridden neighborhoods in New York City.
Yet, we are indefinitely creating the best and brightest future leaders!
A lot of my children live difficult home lives, and I choose to change their experiences within the school and classroom environment as much as I can. Although many of them are faced with problems that are unthinkable to others, they come into my classroom happy and eager to learn.
My Project
We are requesting seat sacks (chairback organizers), a storage organizer cart, and face shields for the students.
As a NYC teacher who will begin this school year in the classroom while the rest of the country carries on with remote learning, I intend on keeping students socially distanced as often as we can.
Seat sacks will allow more student resources to be within arms reach of their desks instead of continuously gathering or getting out of their seat to get materials and rolling carts will allow easy access to important class materials for the teacher. Although students will be required to wear face masks, the face shields provide an extra layer of protection for both student and teacher! Again the number one goal is safe & effective learning & teaching, the more prepared we are, the better off we will be!
