Socially Distanced Learning Spaces

Help me give my students their very own special learning space. Because of covid, we are confined to our seats most of the day. The carpet squares, whiteboards, and markers will give my students a flexible learning space.

My Students

My students are really creative, eager to learn kindergartners. Our school is located in a little rural community in the upstate of SC. It is a Title I school because the majority of our students come from low-income families. Every student gets a free lunch and many students are in need of everyday items. Although some of my students have access to resources and experiences that are amazing, a large percentage do not. Many of my students have never seen places like the ocean or the mountains, and a few have not even been to the closest town, which is about 20 minutes away. Even though my students come from a variety of backgrounds, they all work very hard to learn. They are amazing individuals who strive to improve themselves, succeed in life, and be the best they can be. Teaching my students has been a blessing. My sweet students were amazed to learn that there are people who are interested in helping provide them with new and unique educational opportunities.

My goal is to give my students educational experiences that are equitable to those of higher-income areas and to foster a lifelong love of learning.

My Project

Please help me give my students flexible seating in our classroom. Before Covid 19 we had a large, beautiful carpet in our kindergarten classroom. Then we had to remove it due to sanitation concerns. We couldn't space the students out enough or clean it enough to share. Now my sweet students have to stay at their seats most of the day; this is so hard for precious kindergarten students.

Please give each of my students their very own carpet square, dry erase board, and marker so we can have flexibility in our seating options while still remaining 6 feet apart; wiggly kindergarten students should not be forced to sit in one chair all the time.

If each student has their very own carpet square, we can still socially distance while also maintaining cleanliness. This project will provide my precious, sweet student the flexibility and movement they deserve.
