Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I run a board game club after school and restrict the students in my classroom to boardgames during free time. I currently have an extensive personal library of boardgames ranging from diverse genres such as as abstract strategy, e.g., Quiridor, to social deduction, e.g., Avalon. I have learned that many students once exposed to board games (outside of traditional games such as Life and Monopoly) develop a preference to board games over phones because most students inherently want to socialize. Many students only chose to isolate themselves through phone use either because phones are the most accessible or other viable options do not exist. For example, students who know of my board game collection are continuously coming to my classroom throughout the day to borrow from my board game library when they have free time in other classrooms. Help me expand that access further by expanding that library to more students.
