My students need more reading resources. We have a limited social studies curriculum provided to us and we feel that our students would enjoy categorized readers. These readers correlate with our Florida state standards.

My Students
This project will reach an entire grade level full of excited students that are curious to learn about an assortment of topics. They are an active bunch that work and share well with different classes and different students.
Their home lives differ dramatically but they all have one thing in common: when they enter their classroom door they get to choose how their day goes.
They get to choose their behavior, and they get to choose what they learn about, and how they learn it.
My Project
As a grade level, we are looking to provide our education-hungry students with more reading resources. We have a limited social studies curriculum provided to us and we feel that our students would be able to utilize these individual readers to help during small group time, partner work, and group projects.
Group work is always a great way to engage our learners.
It would be much more effective if each group had numerous copies of the same readers, this helps students compare ideas based on the same text. This also prepares students for more collaborative conversations. I find if a student has the book or text in front of them they retain more information and are more comfortable speaking out.
These readers align with our Florida Standards and would supplement our curriculum wonderfully. These book sets focus on American symbols, community involvement, and biographies on important figures to our world today. What a great way to intrigue our little learners!
