My Project

This project will give my classroom a classroom set of the novel "Boy in the Striped Pajamas' that will be read during our European unit in 8th Grade Social Studies. The school population is majority ELL students and for each unit, I try to implement novels or biographies to increase comprehension, word recognition, and reading skills. This classroom set will help accomplish this goal. Combining Literacy Skills and Social Studies is a great way to try to increase their ESL skills and try to inch closer to closing the achievement gap. Hmong and Karenni students are the dominant populations at the school and some of the lowest-achieving groups academically in Minnesota.
