Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Picture hearing story after story of events and experiences that you cannot relate to whatsoever. I want my students to be engaged in instruction with the materials they need for their diverse learning styles. Please help them see the WORLD!
My students are kind and warm-hearted.
They love telling stories and sharing their own culture. They are classroom helpers, always lending a hand to each other when needed. They attend a public school in the Bronx, NY. There's a variety of boys and girls in the class, some English Language Learners also.
My Project
Social Studies can be a pretty boring topic if you don't have any visual aides to stimulate the learning process. I hope to expand the visual aides in my classroom, which will hopefully assist my english language learners also. I want our classroom to speak to visitors and welcome them into a world of knowledge from as many countries as we can represent. I want my students to learn how to locate areas on a globe and how to calculate air distance based on a map scale. I want them to grow an appreciation for cultures around the world, and to realize the millions of opportunities they can embark on when they get older.
We all know that NYC had some major budget cuts.
I am struggling to keep the attention of my students, to keep them interested in social studies content. But no one can carry the weight of the world on their own. Please help my students believe there's more than meets the eye.
