My Project

My special education students often need more hands on activities to learn in all areas. This includes social studies and science. I service students who have learning disabilities, Autism and Emotional impairments in an Intensive Resource Room. Students see me mostly for math and language arts but also come in for tests being read and some stay with me for social studies and science!

My goal this year is to begin gather materials for each month on themes that reoccur and can be used when we are teaching to help assist students with visuals for the topics we cover.

Whenever my students are learning, they need something in front of them to help keep their focus and engage them in the topic! By having hands on materials, students will be able to visually see what I am talking about and be able to learn faster and have more experience with the topic such as dental health (having a set of teeth to brush besides their own) and arctic animals (having animals to put on a felt board as we discuss them).

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
