This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach amazing, energetic, creative students with exceptional needs. My current students are in grades 4-6 (ages 8-12) who are enrolled in our Special Day Program. My students are all working 2-3 levels below their current grade due to learning disabilities which affect their ability to access and use their grade level curriculum. Despite all their challenges, my students enjoy learning and sharing new information. This school is a Title I school with high poverty and 85% English Language Learners.
My Project
These materials will be used to help my students develop their social and communication skills in a fun and exciting way. Games and puzzles are a great way to help students learn to share and follow rules in fun and exciting ways. These games and puzzles will be used during our daily social skills small group center time. These games and puzzles will also help my students develop their communication skills. Using familiar and unfamiliar games and puzzles will provide my students with opportunities to talk and discuss rules of the game and strategies to solve and complete a puzzle.
