My classroom is an inclusion classroom. What I love most about my students is that they all learn so much from one another. Our learning focus is on the whole child and not just cognitive skills. We learn so much through play.
My Project
Students learn through play and by playing with one another. I want my students to make connections in our classroom that will apply to their everyday lives. I want to do this by giving my students a variety of dramatic play areas. These themed units will inspire my students to be future doctors, gardeners, anthropologists, bakers, and more. By having some themed dramatic play units and games in my classroom that I can change throughout the year I will be able to introduce my students to a variety of topics. Due to Covid-19 there is a delay in social and language skills in my classroom. Students did not have the opportunities to interacted and speak openly with their peers during school and state closures. Our objectives are to apply concepts and encourage social and language skills by supporting objectives SS.K.1 with prompting and support, generate compelling questions to explore how learning and working together builds a classroom community. By having centers to promote social learning throughout the year my goal is to encourage conversations that increase language and support the kindergarten standard 1.PCE.K.3 Identify traits that make a person or community unique (without discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity or expression, per NRS 651.070). and to help conversations flourish when identifying emotions by supporting kinder garden standard 1.ME.K.1 Identify different emotions.
